Common name: Bee Balm 'Leading Lady Plum'
Intense vivid magenta purple flowers bloom in early summer.
Another flush of flowering occurs in mid summer on top the last blooms extending the flowering season.
This Monarda is part of the Leading Ladies series which have a tendency to stay put in the garden and not spread like other varieties.
The foliage has a minty fragrance when touched.
Hummingbird and butterfly magnet!
Great cut flower. Use in beds and borders.
Good resistance to powdery mildew.
Monarda performs best in full sun with well drained moist soil.
Dry soil promotes powdery mildew.
Provide adequate air circulation by dividing and thinning clumps to help prevent powdery mildew from occurring.
