Schizachyrium scoparium 'Little Bluestem'

Common name: 'Little Bluestem'

This native grass starts out with shades of green, blue and purple in the spring and summer. It then turns to shades of pink, red, and orange in the fall, creating a kaleidoscope of color.

Feathery little white plumes appear in late summer adding more color.

A great plant for banks, slopes, and prairie plantings.

It is drought tolerant and deer resistant.

Vertical upright shape in full sun will tend to get a little floppy in more shade.

Cut back in early spring.
