Astilbe 'Red Sentinel'
Common name: Japanese astilbe 'Red Sentinel'
In early summer fragrant scarlet-red flowers bloom.
The glossy green foliage has a tinge of red along with red stems, adding more seasonal interest.
Makes a great cut and dried flower.
Looks stunning when planted in masses.
Works great in containers.
Although astilbes are usually easy to grow they do require good drainage and lots of water especially if they are in more sun.
Fertilize in late spring. Cut back old foliage in spring to help protect it from winter damage.
